Alaska Firefighters endorse Bill Hill for Congress

Bill is running to unrig the system controlled by corporate special interests and billionaire donors

February 4, 2026 – Today, the Alaska Professional Fire Fighters Association endorsed Bill Hill for US Congress. The Alaska Professional Fire Fighters Association (AKPFFA) is Alaska’s statewide affiliate of the International Association of Fire Fighters, and represents over 500 firefighters and emergency medical personnel across the state.

“Our members do a difficult and dangerous job serving Alaska’s communities. We need a representative in Congress who will put public safety and working families first. That candidate is Bill Hill,” said Dominic Lozano, AKPFFA President.

AKPFFA evaluates candidates based on their background, work ethic, and stance on fire fighter and labor issues such as collective bargaining rights, addressing high rates of cancer among fire fighters, protecting free speech rights for first responders, among other issues.

Bill Hill has demonstrated his character through a life of hard work and public service. He started commercial fishing at the age of eight, built everything from homes to sewer systems working construction jobs in the Bristol Bay region, and had a 25 year career as teacher, principal, and superintendent. He understands the diverse needs of Alaskans having lived in Kokhanok, Naknek, Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau. And he has a deep commitment to working families, having been a member of the Laborers union and NEA.

“Decisions made in DC can have a huge impact on our members. We believe Bill Hill is the guy that will get things done for us, and will always put hardworking Alaskans over wealthy special interests,” said Dominic Lozano, AKPFFA President. “Our members, and our country, will be better off with more people like Bill Hill in Congress.”
