Bill Hill in new ad: The price of gas in Alaska is too damn high

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 8, 2026

Today, Bill Hill for Alaskans launched a new television ad focused on Nick Begich’s continued votes to raise gas prices, which have gone up 50% in Alaska since Begich took office. Gas is nearly $9/gallon in Bill’s hometown of Naknek, and diesel has reached an all-time high in the state. Bill is running for Congress to do something about it.

Bill’s campaign has been out-pointing Begich and pro-Begich forces on TV for the past four weeks. Two newly released polls show Bill gaining ground: A +6 Begich poll with a 5.1% margin of error and a +4 Begich poll with a 3.4% margin of error.

The new ad is part of a seven-figure television, streaming, and digital communications plan across the Anchorage, Juneau, and Fairbanks markets.

“I’ve traveled 20,000 miles across the state, and I’ve heard the same thing everywhere. The price of gas in Alaska is too damn high… Nick gets rich, and Alaskans get screwed.”

Bill Hill is a commercial fisherman and teacher from Naknek running to bring down costs for Alaskans and make billionaires, corporations, and politicians play by the same rules as everyone else.

Catch up on the campaign’s first three ads here:

Hard Work: “I’m Bill Hill, and I’m running for Congress… It’s going to take a lot of work to fix this country. But that’s okay: Hard work is what Alaskans are all about.”

Real Alaskan: “When the first fuel barge showed up this spring, our gas went from $6.70 a gallon to almost $9… Between the war in Iran, the tariffs, the tax cuts for billionaires…they’re cutting us to the bone.”

Simple: “While Nick Begich was voting for tax breaks for billionaires, I’m out here with my family working to pay the bills.”
